Who We Are
Welcome to Soñar Ceramics, a small but passionate ceramics studio founded by Kat Halpin, nestled on the picturesque South Coast on Dharrawal Country. The name Soñar Ceramics translates to “To Dream Ceramics” in Spanish, reflecting the influence of Kat's Colombian heritage and the language spoken by her mother.
The inspiration behind the name stems from Kat's vivid dreams of throwing and glazing ceramics (though none about trimming yet!). The name also carries a unique dual meaning; many customers may pronounce “Soñar” as “Sonar,” akin to the method of echolocation used by whales. This connection is profoundly significant as our ceramics are crafted in Dharawal Country, where the humpback whale is a cherished spiritual totem for the Dharawal people.
Soñar Ceramics is more than a studio; it is a dreamscape where cultural heritage, nature, and art converge.
